“ I put 2 dollars down on “ It happened one night ” to win best picture, it seems I’m the only one to think it has a chance against Cleopatra ”, this is a line for this movie. Well am I the only one that thinks this film is better than “ Gran Torino ”, because this true story also directed by Clint Eastwood is in my opinion one of the year’s best films.

 Angelina Jolie was nominated for BEST actress by the Hollywood Foreign Press, her performance was lush, filled with depth, and she was fully immersed in this role. The attention to detail was astounding as the Los Angeles of the 30’s was realistically portrayed; the use of CG (Computer graphics) was made was almost unnoticeable. The distinctive speech patterns of that era were realistically used, as they just formulated their sentences back then very differently.

This story as it unfolds of a single woman living in the 30’s, losing her son and fighting to try to get him back, will inspire you. This film achieves an uncomfortable believability that very, very few films ever do. “She should win the Oscar for best actress in my opinion “.  4 stars.
